It's the perfect example of how solid execution can make a boring concept still fun. It has all the trappings of a typical shonen series but the world is very well realised, the characters all have their own arc and the action setpieces actually matter.
It takes a genre that's pretty much run dry and turns it into a show that's continuously engaging and ultimately very rewarding. So yeah as long as you're not expecting something radically fresh and original it's definitally worth watching imo.
its surprisingly fresh and original despite what you saying its not. i like that its set in nyc its interesting to see a non-western perspective on american society. and its also enganging and entertaining. decent find you were right as always kerberos :D
While I super appreciate the comment. I was actually talking about AoT. Banana Fish is definitely fresh and original and a large part of that is due to its setting and themes. But I actually have an analysis piece comign up that goes into much more depth about my feeelings on the show.
