I honestly cannot watch this...I gave it five minutes of my life and I wont be able to get Asta's voice out of my head for a while. Holy God I didnt think terrible voice acting could make me drop an anime this quickly but damn was I wrong. I actually heard good things about this so I guess I'll read the manga and see where it goes. It just looks generic to me. =/
I actually might watch it because I'm not a big fan of Naruto with all the ninja shit, and this looks like a jack-of-all-trades anime that has a medieval setting with magic and shounen tropes out the ass, so I know I'll enjoy it. Also I like Asta's screaming, only because the VA is relatively new and I want to support the guy who got stuck with this fucking "yell like a maniac!" role.
So I watched a couple more episodes and it is really dull, the magic is generic and sucks, the same can be said for the main characters. Such a waste. I figured out what annoys me most about Asta’s voice, and it sounds like a terrible cross between Chewbacca and a sheep.
I was able to finish the first episode with judicious application of the mute button. That monotone scream seemed entirely uncharacteristic given Astra’s age and his discipline towards strength training. With the conclusion of the first show I was optimistic that maybe there would be some improvement. Haven’t watched any more yet but from the sound it I guess the answer is no.
Well Asta is already much more tolerable, and he yelled not screamed (thank goodness) at an appropriate time awesome! I will try the dubbed version definitely now. Maybe I was too distracted by his voice to like this anime.
I will probably give up on this anime. And just read the manga. At least then I can make up all the voices in my head.
Looks like the anime might not be an absolute failure afterall! But am I the only one who is wondering why Yuno sounds like a grown-ass man? lmao
I saw this advertised on Crunchyroll earlier. Definitely going to give the dub a chance. No screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeamiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!
You know, in spite of being a dub, that almost sounds tolerable. I just might give it a second chance. Then again, if I want to watch another show with predestined careers I may just rewatch Demon King Daimao.
Well I watched the first 2 episodes because the dubs out and Im really sad to see that Pierrot are already giving it the shippuden filler treatment. Episode 1 was rather good (Special they released ages ago was honestly better) then they end on a cliffhanger which I can deal with, episode 2 though starts off with 3 minutes of recap from episode 1 then jumps into another 15 or so minutes of flashback backstory. Only the last couple minutes of the episode had something interesting but it just ends in a one shot by Asta. Im really sad that Pierrot got this to be honest, they are already padding out the story immensely. I looked ahead and it seems episode 3 isn't going to be any better, with it just filled with them walking to the capital. I looked at a review and apparently the first 3 episodes are just one single chapter of the manga, which is disgustingly slow. Hopefully Pierrot don't turn this into the next shippuden (which I had to drop because of the absurd amounts of bad filler) but its unfortunately looking like that. Im gonna give it some more time though because hopefully they are just trying to build up some early "development".
Black Clover is getting 51 episodes divided into four cours as per the official site's Blu-ray Disc and DVD box set listing. The final (5th) box set will ship in January 2019, so presumably all 51 episodes should air by the fall 2018 anime season. Not sure if there will be a break or it will run every season till fall 2018. Official site box-set listing: here
The official Facebook page for Adult Swim's Toonami block has announced that the Black Clover television anime series will premiere on Toonami on December 2 at 11:30pm. FB post: here
