    I totally agree with you.

Take Scums Wish, lots of sex scenes, but not one of them is even remotely enjoyable to watch because of context, of course someone out there would call that fanservice/ecchi.

I can watch shows with fanservice, but recently I've started to get more annoyed by it. Mostly it depends a lot on the context where it's used, for example if a show knows what it is and uses it, it's more acceptable. Like Keijo!!!!!!!, in that show it really isn't a surprise that there's fanservice and basically almost the whole show revolves around it. But if shows like Haibane Renmei, Monster, or something else that tries to accomplish something and represent itself as to be taken seriously, in those occasions fanservice immediately breaks immersion and gets me frustrated. I guess it just boils down to that it's used so often 'cause if there are some boobies or butts in a show now and then, it's very likely that it gains few more viewers. If that's the case, then it's just lazy. I wouldn't say that fanservice as a whole is problematic, but it is kinda stupid and boring. Like some kind of a trick that's used over and over again.

Again though like pinky (does that make me brain) and i were discussing, it all boils down to context. Take a show like strike whitches and compare it to a show like elfen lied. One is blatantly using copious fanservice in every episode it almost becomes second nature while the other while graphic uses nudity as context and net the main focus

You're missing the point though. When people like me, or so many others complain about fanservice, we're not complaining about in-context nude scenes like you'd have in any show. That's kinda going off topic. We're complaining about the awkward kind of fan service that insults the intelligence of people who are long past pubescent. The characters don't even have to be nude. You know that. They are more often clothed, with panty shots, and so on. It's inexcusable in my honest opinion.

Take Game of Thrones as an example of a western show that had a problem with "fanservice" if you wanna call it that, perhaps without the sheer awkwardness of the anime kind. The first two seasons are jam packed full of sex scenes, and unnecessary nudity that added nothing to the story. They did this purely because they thought it was going to gather an audience outside of the crowd who'd usually watch fantasy. To an extent, it probably worked, but it made it kinda awkward to watch with company. Later in the show, when they actually stopped with the excessiveness, the nudity was most often in context of the story. I wasn't complaining anymore. It was a great show that did not need to become a porno lite to get attention. I expect bad shows to do that to compensate for poor writing.

As for Scum's Wish, I haven't watched it, and I don't think it's my kind of thing to begin with. :p

For anyone interested, Viz Media has licensed Snow White with the Red Hair (Akagami no Shirayuki-hime) manga. The first volume is slated for release in spring 2019.

Dragon pilot is pretty good. A little disgusting at times but still pretty fun

I feel really happy to know that I am not the only one hater of fanservice. It may be used in some specific kinds of anime and that is OK. But I feel really horrible when series about the apocalypse, survival stories or usual-life animes include tones of fanservice elements. To be honest, the old anime drawing style is better, because the characters look more realistic there. And one more thing - I always wondered if wearing skirts and short tops is comfortable for warrior girls who fight often.
Thanks a lot for the list! I ll try to watch every mentioned series soon.

In real life? I highly doubt it. Hardly the best thing to wear on a battlefield. Besides the obvious bullshit involved in say, having to crawl along the ground and having said skirt crawl up around your waist.... It would be much more efficient and comfortable to wear the same trousers that the men wear. If you yourself say... wore a kilt...think of all the cuts and scrapes that a pair of military grade trousers would save you from.

One of the reasons I don't watch a whole lot of anime is much of it is dimished to cheesy, stock characters with unwanted fanservice in them. Doesn't matter how much it is, it is the intention. It just makes the anime less enjoyable. that's not to say I don't want sex or anything in my anime. Go for it, if it makes sense. "But boy falls on top of girl with hand on boob" needs to get the hell out of here.

I'd suggest Seirei no Moribito, but you may have seen that already. Noticed 12 kingdoms on your list, that show is pure gold.

    Or just check this: https://myanimelist.net/animelist/AeonsLegend?status=2&order=4&tag=
Anything with 9 or higher has no fanservice. Aside from Mezzo Forte of course ;)

Agreed. If it makes sense to the storyline, and is done more or less the same as you'd see in a movie, I'm fine with that. I wouldn't consider it fanservice, or awkward.

Soo, just curious. Where would you say strike witches places on the spectrum of fanservice?

How about Psyco Pass? Now that I think about it, If a show was enjoyable to watch, would you forget if it had fan service in it as you only remember the more interesting parts?
