Still haven't played RE7, gotta get on that.

This appears to be like a direct sequel to the previous game? Hoping to see some Chris/Leon action.

Watched a playthrough of the PS5 demo and it looks pretty sweet. Graphics and atmosphere are awesome. I am still not a fan of first person horror games though, it put's a rat in my face-cage if you know what I mean.

I guess I am on the fence about the recent RE games, they all technically make sense in the RE world but they are so far out there I kinda wish they'd split the series into multiple franchises or just give the main games a break for awhile. Each iteration is getting more convoluted to try and keep everything connected.

I spent a few hours on the first encounter of the game on hardcore. It's not a spoiler: the first area mimics the village opening in RE4 where after you fight against a single enemy a horde shows up and you have to survive until a certain trigger or triggers are met. Needless to say I got pretty good at running that segment countless times over the course of 2+ hours. I restarted on a new game with the same hardcore difficulty and passed that segment on the first try so I strongly believe something was bugged in my original save and the trigger would never occur. Either that or I met the trigger condition by sheer luck on the last try. Spending hours on the sequence is not a boast or flex, this isn't the "dark souls of Resident Evil" or whatever I just think my game was bugged.

So far it's alright, not amazing, not bad. The visuals are great but there's not much else to write home about. Lots of really weird stuff I have no idea how they are going to tie to the previous Resident Evil titles outside of memes. It's definitely more action oriented, and after spending all that time on the first sequence I've gotten over the spooky bit of playing in first person. Everything is now an enemy to kill or an enemy to dodge. I am sure that sounds stupid, like that describes most video games, but I guess I just want to convey that the shock or horror factor really dulled after the umpteenth time I had to do the beginning segment of the game. The only thing "horrific" right now for me is how many significant injuries the main character ,Ethan, sustains to his hands; I am kind of done looking at all of that gorey crap, it feels like horror filler rather than a significant sense of dread or panic.

Anyways I guess I will see how I like the rest of the game.

See crows feasting on a corpse, shoot a couple of them for coin, walk past the corpse into a new area, realize I have been here before and turn around, where the crows were are now lycans feasting on the corpse, the lycans notice me and scream.

Hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and nope'd my ass straight to the desktop. That legit spooked me but put a smile on my face. I am enjoying it much more than I thought I would, it's very Resident Evil 4.
