Shame that Acquire was too busy developing Octopath Traveler to start on Way of the Samurai X Tenchu. Here's some more information from a closed-door E3 demo: Sounds like they've has made some tweaks to the death system, namely that you get two chances per life, at least as far as we know. This might end up being a midway point in compromise of a lack of difficulty settings to help out new or struggling players to make the game a bit more beginner friendly while keeping the game as hard as usual - this is just my hunch, it's hard to say anything definitively at this point. It also has more of a focus on stealth than the other games, with you skulking around looking for alternative routes to take down enemies, ala Tenchu. I don't know that I need three AAA Samurai games in the same year, but if I can't get Way of the Samurai or Onimusha I'll take whatever I can get. They all look good, so I'll definitely try them all, but I'm guessing we've got a ways to go before that's gonna happen.
Looks pretty crazy. Never played Nioh but played the Onimusha series back in the day. I fuck with it.
Sorry my opinion differs from yours, bro. Edit: I would really like to see the non-humanoid enemies aside from a glimpse of the giant snake, monsters in Fromsoft games are always exciting to see given their artistic mind. Also the locked-in character of this Bone-Cyborg Asian man isn't really appealing to me, neither is the Just Cause-esque grappling hook gameplay and the stealth. Also I thought I saw a trick weapon in the bone-arm or something like an additional weapon, perhaps for those bonus attacks like in Bloodborne, but still...not that amazing to me. The other Samurai games of this year aren't looking exceptional to me either, other than the graphics.
I just finished defeating Genichiro Ashina. This game is better than Dark Souls, on par with Bloodborne. Just an opinion. Anyways, here's my fight with Lone Shadow Swordsman Spoiler
Activision has revealed that the game has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide in less than 10 days.
