So, yeah. This is a thing.
Requesting thread be merged with the old one here:
So Ace Ventura Hedgehog Detective.
God this looks atrocious
Jim Carrey must have some major bills to pay. Looks like a straight to VHS (ask ur dad) release from early 90's.
Yeah this is cringy, shudderingly bad......and Coolio's Gangsters Paradise as the theme? That doesn't even make any fucking sense.
Yeah, that Gangster’s Paradise shit seems like a confusion over who they’re trying to target the movie to.
They will change the Sonic design because of internet rage. Might be watchable now.
Mindless banter, one-liners and sight gags, if they add the DVD to their collection in the library I could watch it for free with only my time to lose.
I still cant believe they are going to redo it. Who knew studios still listened to its target audience???
Now THIS is what i call FAN SERVICE!!!!!
The most likely path for the redo is them forcing horrible crunch on their staff to get the movie out on time. Man, it's so true to video games it even mimics the crunch problem.
Jeff Fowler, the director of the film, has revealed that the film has been delayed to February 14, 2020. Fowler said in the tweet that staff are "Taking a little more time to make Sonic just right."
Sanic the Hedgehog (2019)
New trailer out after redesign:
Pulled it off, this looks fantastic.
There is no way the movies gonna be as good as the trailer and I hope they the soundtrack is as good as the tracks they chose for it.
Also....got damn it classic Jim Carey I'm in.
Sonic the Hedgehog has earned an estimated US$57 million in its first three days at the box office in the United States. The film now holds the record for the highest U.S. opening weekend for any film adaptation of a video game.
The previous record was held by Pokémon Detective Pikachu film which earned US$54 million in its opening weekend last May.
I am going to see the movie later today.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
It is a kids movie and for what it is worth, it is entertaining. We enjoyed it and I must say that Jim Carrey did an excellent job in the movie. For fans of Jim Carrey, it is worthwhile to see.
I took my niece and nephew to see it today and for what it's worth, I'd probably go and see it again if I was invited. It's family-friendly but it felt suitable for all ages. It's basically a buddy cop film that caters to children, but they also included just the right amount of fan service to please older Sega fans. I'm critical of a lot of films, especially nowadays, but I don't think they could have done a better job.
I love how pro-consumer Sega has become, pretty much the antithesis of Nintendo once again. This is coming from somebody who was a huge fan as a kid and eventually grew to mostly detest the Sonic franchise up until a few years back. I honestly believe Sega is likely truly redeeming itself. Obviously I hope for far better 3D games but Sonic Mania was such a smart play that many publishers could learn a lesson from.
At the end of the film a sequel was more or less confirmed, but of course that depended on its box office performance. Sonic's a smash hit and for whatever reason, Birds of Prey's audience is not happy...
I know the credits shouldn't normally be a highlight of a film (unless it's god-awful) but damn, this had the best credits I've seen in a very long time:
(Mind the crap phone quality.)
It was like a recap of a lot of the film using 2D sprites, often with reimaginings of gameplay, bonus games and zones from the classic Sonic titles. Never thought I'd see a Jim Carrey sprite.
Paramount Pictures will release the film early on demand digitally on March 31. The film will ship on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on May 19.
